Born: 9/7/1984 | Livingston, NJ

I was raised in the Portuguese section of Newark, New Jersey, and I was born into a broken home. I started rhyming when I was 15. My boy Vic got me started on the skills I needed to rhyme. After he left for the army in 2000 I met up with my now friend (Brother) and rap partner of 7 years in college (D-cypl).That same year I met up with rap entrepreneur Murdock. He was making moves and interested in us as a group. After spending countless hours in the studio recording and honing my craft I parted from everything and went back to school to further my education.

D-Cypl continued doing what he does best. After 2 years without rhyming, I picked up the pen and started writing again…

D-Cypl

D-CYPL was born in Livingston, New Jersey. He grew up in a small town outside of Newark, New Jersey.  A product of a broken home his parents tried to put it back together with their best efforts. His mother and father both remarried but rocky relationships within the home only made life with friends outside the home closer. His closeness with four friends since the age of 10 through his college years is part of the inspiration of who he is today.

When he was a little kid he discovered how much he loved music. He would insist that his Aunt play ‘Born In the USA’. When he was 8 his cousin introduced them to a pop rap group called Kris Kross. He listened to a lot of radio, specifically HOT 97. In 6th grade he started listening to Bone Thugs and Harmony, ‘Crossroads’ tape again and again until he had every word memorized. And the summer before he went into high school, he bought the Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death. His friend Anthony actually showed him the bootleg in eight grade about a month or two before it was supposed to come out. In high school he was hooked. He would try to get his hands on every CD he could. Every week he would take his lunch money and get a CD(s). And when he was a freshman in high school at 14  he started rhyming regularly. He saw a commercial for Old Navy with a fake yard sale and this guy rhyming in a car, he dabbled in poetry before that, and knew he could do better. He was tired of garbage MC’s and got fed up.

When he started rhyming more seriously his friends began battling him. The competition grew more seriously to battling back and forth every day for three, four, five hours at a time. So during the time of all these battles, he decided he wanted to do this as a profession. He met with a friend in college, Steve, aka LJ. They then met up with a producer named Murdock. Chris and LJ spent many hours with Murdock in the studio crafting would be classics and developing their skills. After Steve decided to quit rap for a little while, and after a financially difficult time of working with just Murdock he had enough of all the struggle and backed off the studio for a little while.

One day D-CYPL and LJ were chilling when LJ gave him the good news that he wanted to get back into the studio. D-CYPL immediately called Murdock and told him the good news and asked if he had any tracks ready for them. Murdock had something even better, a new studio.  D-CYPL and LJ were introduced to the Brother Noyze the Mad Musician, and Noyze’s label…
